It was their second full-length album following Dark & Wild. While the The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series expressed the pain and beauty of youth, WINGS signifies the wings of a bird emerging from its sanctuary, drawing motifs from Hermann Hesse’s novel Demian.

In 'Moon' (Track 16), Jin compares himself to the Moon. He tells the fans (ARMY): "You think I'm the one shining, but I only shine because of you. I will stay by your side unchangingly."
